Old windows normally have very poor insulation, which allows more heat into the home. More heat, means more energy needed in order to cool the home down. Window replacement can be a difficult job, a job that would be best done by professionals, but if installed correctly can be done by yourself.

3. Attack your kitchen counters! You have to see those suckers every single day, and if they are old and run down your home can begin to look run down. Replacing kitchen counters is a relatively easy job. Your main worry will be deciding what kind of counters you would like to put in. Make sure to check out a variety of options before making your final decision. There are many different types of counters, and if you browse different stores in your area, you can find inexpensive counters.

4. Now that you have finished the counters, move on to the cabinets in the kitchen. Along with old counters, cabinets tend to make your home look run down. Just as the counter replacement is relatively easy, so are the cabinets. Of course you will need to follow instructions correctly, and the replacement will be a breeze. Spice up those new cabinets with new knots or handles, this puts a "I'm new, look at me" sign. Next time you have guest, your guaranteed for a compliment.

5. Fresh paint is as simple as the swipe of a paint brush. This is a very easy and cheap project to do to improve your home. Paint is not very expensive and if you choose the right color, you can take an old room, to a new room.
