Kentley Hills is one of the larger communities within Highlands Ranch. In fact, it is so large that one of the area's smaller communities, Lantern Hill, is almost entirely surrounded by it.
Some of the best properties in Kentley Hills are considered among the most desirable in the Highlands Ranch area. Commanding spectacular views of the Rockies and the Highlands Ranch Windmill, and with spacious open plan rooms that are perfect for entertaining, they are highly sought after.
The Kentley Hills community consists of approximately 850 single family houses. Most of these properties were built between 1999 and 2001. A Kentley Hills home is characteristically a two story home, although there are also a few ranch style properties in the area, and there is a great deal of variation in property size. Many of the houses back onto the local green belt. A lot of the properties in Kentley Hills have amazing views of the Rocky Mountains, as well as of the Landmark Windmill, a local landmark that is stationed at the Highlands Ranch Mansion.
Kentley Hills is part of a larger community, Highlands Ranch. Many of the local amenities are administered by the Highlands Ranch Community Association. This is a very active local organization that arranges numerous social events for residents of the Highlands Park area.
Residents of Highlands Ranch have access to a range of different amenities including a system of trails, the Backcountry Wilderness Area, various parks and the local recreation centers. The nearest recreation center for residents of Kentley Hills is the Southridge Center, although the Eastridge Center is also nearby. The closest park is Dad Clark Park, which has a children's playground and a separate dog park, which offers a space where pets can be allowed to roam off the leash. Dad Clark, also known as the Potato King, was one of the original landowners in the Highlands Ranch area.
The wealth of open space and recreational facilities within Kentley Hills, and the wider Highlands Ranch area, make it very popular with families and outdoor activity enthusiasts. Hiking, running and cycling are all popular thanks to the excellent system of trails that runs though Highlands Ranch, while there are opportunities to spot some of Colorado's most interesting native species in the Backcountry Wilderness Area. Life in Kentley Hills is very different to life in the center of Denver, and this is what makes the area so popular with those who need to work in the city, but who prefer not to live there. Many residents of Kentley Hills commute to work in Denver. It is easy to drive into the city, although there are also good bus and light railway links.
A good selection of stores are available in Southridge and Eastridge, where there are also a number of excellent restaurants. The Park Meadows mall is also nearby and offers a wide choice of different stores.
Kentley Hills is within the school district of Douglas County. The usual schools for children living in Kentley Hills are the Heritage and Summit View elementary schools, Mountain Ridge middle school and Mountain Vista high school.
