lantern-hill-highlands-ranch_400The small Lantern Hill community in Highlands Ranch, Denver sits within the larger community of Kentley Hills. The residents of Lantern Hill do not feel enclosed or imposed upon by their neighbors, however, because between these two residential areas there is a belt of green space and unspoiled land. This green belt is more than just a buffer against the rest of the city, however. Many of the homes in the Lantern Hill community back onto the open space and peaceful views that are provided by the green belt. It forms an important part of the landscape, which also includes stunning views of the city of Denver and, away on the horizon, the magnificent Rocky Mountains. The green belt is also an important recreational space for the residents, with winding trails that can be followed around it and plenty of room in which to relax or exercise.

Most of the properties in the neighborhood were constructed between 1999 and 2001. The homes in this community are predominantly four and five bedroom properties, which usually have three or four bathrooms.

The Lantern Hill community is served by a number of different schools within the school district of Douglas County. Most of the local children attend Summit View elementary school, Mountain Ridge middle school and Mountain Vista high school, although it is sometimes possible that a child may attend a different school.

Lantern Hill has excellent road and rail links with the rest of Denver, including a park and ride service. This makes it is easy to commute into the downtown area, or to visit other parts of the city.

Outside the Lantern Hill community itself, the Highlands Ranch area has plenty to offer in terms of recreation, entertainment and shopping opportunities in the Denver area. There are a number of parks, the vast Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness area, and a selection of different stores and restaurants. Many of these are focused around the Town Center. The Southridge shopping area also offers many different restaurants and stores, including a number of grocery stores, banks and other useful services, within easy reach of Lantern Hill.

Lantern Hill falls within the area that is under the care of the Highlands Ranch Home Owner's or Community Association. This active association organizes frequent social and recreational events. Residents of Lantern Hill have access to four different recreation centers administered by the association. The nearest, Southridge, is about two miles away. Residents also benefit from access to the trails system that has been set up for the use of residents of Highlands Ranch. These trails can easily be joined from Lantern Hill, and offer many routes that are perfect for running, cycling or walking.

It is popular with families and commuters and offers a good selection of recreational opportunities for residents, particularly those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Lantern Hill is enclosed within an undeveloped green belt, but it is still a part of Highlands Ranch.
