Wildcat Ridge: Take a Walk on the Wild Side

Wildcat Ridge is a community in Douglas County that is situated just to the east of Highlands Ranch. It is a small neighborhood of approximately 400 single family homes. Most of the buildings in Wildcat Ridge were constructed between the years 1995 and 2003. There are a range of different architectural styles within the neighborhood, some of them contemporary and others more traditional. An interesting feature of the area is that many of the street names have been named after different species of wild cats, including the Puma, the Tiger and the Cheetah.
Wildcat Ridge is a peaceful and predominantly residential community, with a lot of green space and numerous quiet cul-de-sacs. There are properties that are set in slightly busier and nosier locations, however, particularly those that back onto Quebec Street. Many of the other properties are adjacent to the green belt or to other areas of open space within the neighborhood.
Wildcat Ridge is close to the city of Denver, but living in the community does not feel like living in a big city. Surrounded by magnificent views of the mountains and large areas of open space that can be explored by following the many trails, it is easy to forget that such a large city is within such easy reach. The friendly local community makes living in Wildcat Ridge feel much more like living in a small town. The Wildcat Ridge Homeowner's Association plays an important role in maintaining this welcoming atmosphere, and is also responsible for many of the local amenities and recreational facilities.
Residents of Wildcat Ridge have access to their own club house, community green and swimming pool. The pool is incredibly popular during the summer months, and there is even a local swim team, the Tigersharks.
There is an excellent system of trails running through the area around Wildcat Ridge. The trail through Bluffs Regional Park winds past the Carriage Club and the Lone Tree communities, but there are also numerous other routes that can be followed. Cycling, running and hiking are all popular activities for residents of Wildcat Ridge, many of whom were attracted to the area because of the surrounding trails. Horseback riding is also possible along some of the routes, including the one through Bluffs Regional Park.
Anyone who lives in the Wildcat Ridge community also benefits from discounted entry fees for all of the South Suburban recreation facilities and parks. These include the Lone Tree Recreation Center and Golf Course, as well as a wide range of other sports facilities and parks. Residents of Wildcat Ridge are also able to register to join in activities at the recreation centers of the Metro District and Highlands Ranch.
The Wildcat Ridge community has its own school for children from Kindergarten up to the fifth grade, Wildcat Mountain Elementary. There are approximately 500 students at this school. When they leave Wildcat Mountain, the local children tend to move on to middle school at Rocky Heights and then to high school at Rock Canyon. Both these schools are within a couple of miles of the elementary school.
Wildcat Ridge also has a good selection of shopping choices, while the Park Meadows mall is nearby if additional options are necessary.
